Wendy Riel

TRADEMARK LAWYER/TRADEMARK AGENT

Wendy is a barrister and solicitor and a registered trademark agent who enjoys assisting a wide variety of clients, including multinational, national, mid-sized and small businesses, along with entrepreneurs, with their intellectual property needs.

Wendy has extensive experience in providing search opinions, filing and prosecuting trademark applications and advising with respect to licensing, enforcement actions, opposition matters, and post-registration proceedings, including summary cancellation proceedings and litigation matters.

Wendy is also experienced in the acquisition of trademarks, branding, due diligence, marking and labelling requirements, as well as counterfeit and licensing matters. She also has experience in the areas of copyright and domain names.

Wendy has been a member of various national and international committees, including the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), and is currently on the Trademark Office Practices Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Prior to private practice, Wendy was a Senior Trademarks Examiner at the Canadian Trademarks Office.

Wendy enjoys travelling, relaxing by the lake, boating and spending time with her family, and is an avid sports fan.
